Florida Outdoor Equipment Overview


Florida Outdoor Equipment started in 1976 with owners Richard and Peggy DeShetler. Their children are now running the family owned business since 1996. Our succession plan is grooming third generation to take over the family business in the future.

In 1978 FOE became an ECHO distributor and in 1983 we became the first SCAG distributor in the country.

Florida Outdoor Equipment sells various lines of outdoor power equipment to both homeowners and commercial markets. With that diversity attained growth, and in 2000 FOE expanded their Florida operations into Georgia and parts of Tennessee. In 2002, FOE built its 4th building since its conception, a 72,000 square foot facility which includes a 1,400 sq. ft. training center plus 1,000 sq. ft. hands on service center. In 2009, FOE added an additional 40,000 square feet to its warehouse giving FOE a total of 112,000 sq. ft.

Today, FOE is a distributor for ECHO, Scag, Shindaiwa, ECHO Bearcat, Scag Giant-Vac, Billy Goat and Bluebird.

There are 26 inside personnel and 8 outside territory managers supported by 2 product managers.

Our responsibilities as a distributor are many to justify the value added services:

  • Carrying sufficient inventory for dealer backup.
  • Provide financial support programs for our dealers.
  • Advertise the various product lines marketing and merchandise.
  • Provide promotional programs to make our dealer more competitive.
  • Dealer training providing features and benefits of our products–responsible for dealer displays, sell-through and business training.
  • Provide dealer service functions such as on-line ordering, billing, availability, etc.
  • Maintain adequate part inventories for the products we sell, providing a high fill rate with dealer making a minimum investment.
  • Provide excellent service support from technical training through instant credit warranty programs.
